Tarot spread

A tarot spread is a specific layout in which cards are laid out during a reading — for example, three cards for past, present, and future.

Each position in the spread adds extra meaning to the card drawn there — the same card can be read differently in a "past" position than in an "advice" or "outcome" position. Popular spreads include the three-card spread and the Celtic Cross.
