The astrology written in Greek in the Roman Empire from about the 1st century BCE to the 7th century CE, by authors such as Dorotheus of Sidon, Vettius Valens and Ptolemy. It uses the seven visible planets, whole-sign houses, sect, lots and time-lord techniques.
Each year of life the Ascendant moves one whole sign. The sign reached in a year, and its ruler, the lord of the year, are read for that year of life.
A timing technique of Vettius Valens: periods of years and months that start from the Lot of Fortune or Spirit and move through the signs, each sign lasting a fixed number of years.
The planets are in the same places. The traditional reading uses only the seven visible planets, whole-sign houses and older rules of dignity and timing.
