The Ascendant is the point of the zodiac rising in the east at the place and moment of birth. It depends on the exact time and on the latitude and longitude of the birthplace, which is why two people born on the same day can have different rising signs.
AstroSensus calculates it from astronomical planet positions in the Western tropical zodiac, the same way as the full birth chart. The free chart shows all the planets, houses and aspects; an account adds the full interpretation and daily forecasts.
The sign on the eastern horizon at your birth and how far into it the Ascendant stood.
The other two of the big three, each with its degree.
One line on how the tradition reads each placement — a starting point, not a verdict.

The rising sign, or Ascendant, is the zodiac sign that was rising on the eastern horizon at the moment you were born. It is often read as the way you meet the world and the first impression you make.
The Ascendant moves through all twelve signs in about 24 hours, roughly one degree every four minutes. Without the hour it cannot be known, so the calculator then shows only your Sun and Moon signs.
The Sun sign, the Moon sign and the rising sign together. The Sun is read as the core of the personality, the Moon as the emotional needs and the Ascendant as the outward style.
Enter your birth data: the Moon sign is calculated with the rest. The Moon changes sign every two to three days, so if it changed on your birth day and the hour is unknown, the page names both possible signs.
