Retrogrades

Retrograde shadow

The retrograde shadow is the period before and after an actual retrograde, when a planet moves direct but through the same stretch of the zodiac it will later (or earlier) cross again backward.

It splits into the pre-shadow and the post-shadow. Many astrologers believe a retrograde's themes start surfacing already during the shadow period, not only once the planet actually turns retrograde.
