Polarities

Polarities split the twelve signs into two alternating groups — masculine (positive) and feminine (negative) — describing the general direction a sign's energy tends to move.

Masculine signs (fire and air: Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, Aquarius) are traditionally linked to outward, active, expressive energy. Feminine signs (earth and water: Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, Pisces) are linked to inward, receptive, reflective energy.\n\nToday these terms describe a polarity of energy rather than a person's gender — every chart, regardless of the chart owner's gender, contains both polarities in different proportions.
