Pluto line
Also known as: Pluto lines, Pluto on the MC, Pluto on the DSC
In astrocartography, a Pluto line marks the places on Earth where, at the moment of your birth, Pluto was culminating (MC), beneath your feet (IC), rising (ASC) or setting (DSC).
In a birth chart Pluto describes transformation, power, intensity, control, crisis and renewal. Tradition reads its lines on an astrocartography map as demanding: near them things rarely stay on the surface. These are lines of deep work — on yourself, on relationships, on family history. They are not "cursed", but they are not light either; they are best approached with curiosity rather than fear.
Pluto on the MC is associated with intense ambition, influence and a changing professional role. It is often described as a place where work becomes personal, and where position turns into a struggle over control or meaning. In the Intention Travel goal table it is a demanding line for "Career", "Visibility" and "Finances and a sense of security".
Tradition links Pluto on the IC with deep work on roots, family history and renewal. It is a place where old family matters can surface — so that they can be understood and laid to rest. In the goal table it is a demanding line for "Home and stability", "Finances and a sense of security" and "Spiritual growth".
Pluto on the ASC is associated with intensity, personal transformation and a strong presence. Near this line it is easier to shed an old skin, but the process can be exhausting. In the goal table it is a demanding line for "Holiday and rest" and "A new beginning".
Tradition links Pluto on the DSC with intense, transforming relationships — and with struggles over control. Encounters near this line can be deep and far from easy; it helps to notice who holds power in a relationship and how it gets talked about. In the goal table it is a demanding line for "Love".
Pluto appears only on the Western map, because Vedic astrology does not use planets invisible to the naked eye. It has a large ecliptic latitude — it can stray more than ten degrees from the ecliptic — so AstroSensus calculates its lines "in mundo", from where Pluto actually stands in the sky rather than from its zodiac degree. With Pluto the difference between the two methods is especially visible on the ASC and DSC curves. Pluto takes about 248 years to go round the zodiac, so the course of its lines is decided mainly by the birth time. In Intention Travel, Pluto's transits to the planet of a line create only demanding windows.
Pluto lines are worth checking against places where something ended or began anew. Closeness is read in three bands: up to 150 km very close, up to 300 km close and up to 600 km within the wider band of the line. A Pluto line does not announce a crisis. It shows where tradition sees more depth and intensity, and asks whether you are ready for that kind of work — and what it would be for.
