XIII. Death

Death (XIII) symbolizes the definitive end of one stage and the necessary move into the next — it is almost never read literally as physical death.

In a reading it often points to needing to close out a situation, relationship, or habit that has stopped serving growth, making room for something new. Reversed, it's often read as resisting an inevitable change, or dragging out something that should have ended long ago.
