First quarter moon

The first quarter moon is the phase halfway between the new moon and the full moon, when exactly half the Moon's disc is lit (the Sun and Moon form a square).

Astrologically it's linked to the first real test of the intentions set at the new moon — a point where obstacles show up that call for concrete action and decisions.
