Bhava

Bhava is the Sanskrit term for an astrological house — one of the twelve segments of a Vedic chart, counted from the Lagna.

The division into bhavas plays a role similar to houses in Western astrology, but Vedic astrology most often uses the whole-sign system (one sign equals one house), unlike Western systems such as Placidus.
